The TV licence is an outmoded tax that should have been abolished as soon as commercial TV was launched.
I have to admit that the BBC do make some very good programmes but they should be self funding like all the other channels.

If the Government want to save some money, this would be an excellent way of doing it. Two empty houses I know of owned by members of my family are bombarded with very rude warning letters from the TV Licence authority, and probably called at by inspectors. The money that this behaviour, no doubt throughout the country, must be costing! This represents a huge misuse of TV Licence payers money, let alone being coerced to pay it in the first place with very ill mannered methods. It reminds me of the old Danegeld that had to be paid to the Vikings to not invade us centuries ago, (not that I lived then of course .

I have so much wanted this scrapping for years and years. We are the only country in the world where you can go to jail and get a criminal record for not having a TV licence. Madness.

The BBC is not a proper public service broadcast service - like C-Span in the USA - which is paid for by subscribers who choose to pay!! C-Span does not waste money sending freelancers all over the world as the BBC does at our expense. Nor do they pay million dollar salaries. It is unedited and tries to present the plain truth. It's farcical and unfair that everyone in the UK has to pay this TAX whether or not they watch BBC. Come on people...let's resist having to pay for tenth rate shows (cheap to make) and endless repeats.
